Membership Benefits

With so many bar associations to choose from, you may ask, “Why the GTLA Bar?”  Here are some of the major benefits of membership:

• Membership Meetings – Dinners and other special events provide a chance to socialize  with each other outside of the legal arena.  Bi-annual dinner meetings (including cocktail hour) are free-of-charge to members.
• Networking - Membership in the Association offers many opportunities to meet with local judges and other attorneys in the Grand Traverse area and to develop important professional, support and referral networks. 
• Community Service - In addition to helping you succeed as an attorney, the Association provides many opportunities for members to serve the community through pro bono activities and community service events. 
• CLE – The Association sponsors several lunchtime CLE sessions each year and will be offering a two-day CLE marathon in October 2009.
• TARS – Our local attorney referral service generates many referrals each week.  For $50, members can join, select areas of specialty and be on the rotating list for referral calls.
• Golf Outing – Each year, the bar association sponsors a "scramble format" golf outing at a local course.  Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate and prizes (both skill and luck based) are awarded.
