Thanks to financial support from the Traverse Area District Library, the Law Library now has access to Fastcase.

For those of you who are new to Fastcase, it is a web-based legal research tool that includes:

•·        State case law from all 50 states (1950 (or earlier) – present)

•·        Federal case law including:

•       US Supreme Court Decisions (1754-present)

•       Federal Circuit Court Decisions (1924-present)

•       Federal District Court Decisions (1912-present)

•       Tax Court (1924-present)

•       Bankruptcy Courts (1979-present) 

The Fastcase collection also includes searchable statutes and links out to official regulations, court rules, and constitutions.

Fastcase’s libraries are searchable by keyword (or Boolean search), natural language search, or citation lookup. Fastcase provides its own integrated citation analysis tool, and users can link out to either Shepardize or KeyCite their results on a pay-as-you-go basis.  And unlike some services, Fastcase includes official pagination.

Fastcase has partnered with a number of other vendors to provide the following on a pay-as-you-go basis:  a newspaper archive, legal forms, one-stop PACER search of federal filings, people finders, and business intelligence tools.
